I picked up a worm, and it wrote something in my hand with a tiny pencil. Unfortunately it was too small to read. An autograph? A spell? An angry note?

@reanimateobjects

I’ve decided to line up with their writing and whatever they wrote appear to be…. phallic.

I don’t how to break the news with you, but, I think that worm drew a penis on your hand…. Congratulation?

Ooh! Thank you for this valuable contribution to the field of worm linguistics and/or art. It is still unclear to me if it’s meant as a rude message to me, if it’s just putting its tag there, or something else. Further research is needed!

I think the idea of it being a penis is anthropomorphism. I mean, the worm doesn’t have a penis itself, nor proper eyes with which to see one. No, I’m afraid this is something far more interesting: a self-portrait. You have been touched by an aesthetic annelid, and now your life will never be the same.

Now I will forever try to communicate with all the worms I find, but I worry that I’ll never meet this one again.

Call Me thursdayplaid

I’m another of the tumblr migrants over from whatever it is tumblr is doing.  I thought a bit about just starting over, throwing the old plaid in the wash and moving forward.  It isn’t comfortable to move forward with the past on one’s back, the furniture doesn’t fit the same in the new rooms.  It’s just not the same.  With the way the purity bot is cutting a wide swath, I thought it would be a good idea to move stuff over anyway.

The past is a precious thing, even when it’s silly and embarrassing – especially when it’s silly and embarrassing.   I’ll be deleting some things and curating the posts coming over,  but will keep as much as my past as I can.

Can someone explain to me why people get so personally offended by their harmless post being marked nsfw? I just don’t really understand because it’s a program that just looks for some criteria. It’s not real people digging through your posts going “Oho brenda, that Christmas pic from last years is too racy!”

Come on, this is obviously the same program as a year or two ago when nsfw was flagged. I don’t understand why anyone would think it’d be better now?

So just??? Have it reviewed??? I don’t understand the huge air of personal offense that get’s projected everywhere.

@boringid  Case in point.

From someone who’s survived MySpace, livejournal, deviantart, and fanfiction.nets’ content purges and bad policy updates, here’s some advice on how to get through tumblr’s recent bullshit:

– don’t knee jerk delete. I know it’s tempting to peace out immediately but hang on and do the other steps first. Out right ghosting and erasing everything is how fandoms die.

– archive everything on your blog you want to keep

– tell your followers how they can archive and keep your work too. A lot of fic and art were only saved from ff.net and lj because other people saved it first. If you’re cool with other people saving your work for them to personally keep, let them know this. You can absolutely discourage reposting but I really do highly recommend you allow people to personally save fic and art they like and are worried will disappear forever. Digital Dark Ages are a real thing.

– tell people where you’re jumping ship to. Give links. Keep that info up, even if you’ve left the site.

– go through who you follow and find out where else you can follow them. Save their work if they’ll allow it. It’s tedious as hell but if you want to keep up with people on here clicking on their page to check in is the best way to do it.

– support places like ao3. This is exactly why ao3 asks for donations a few times a year. They are a 100% anti-purging, judgement free, ad free non profit run by an elected board and protected by lawyers. Places like ao3 literally save fandom so please continue to support them and other similar archives. This is exactly why ao3 is so important.

Hey guys!

There’s been a lot of talk about fanworks getting blocked in various countries.  To be clear.  While I do not give permission for anyone to claim my work as their own, I do give blanket permission to copy, save, print, or whatever else your heart desires any of my fanwork in any fandom.

Saturday morning, on the 26th of October, a Nazi walked into a Pittsburgh synagogue, shouting “All Jews must die!” and opened fire. He killed eleven Jewish people, including grandparents, husbands, wives, and a doctor remembered for his compassionate care of his patients during the AIDs crisis. Several of them were there celebrating a baby-welcoming ceremony for a gay couple’s newly adopted twins.

This was the deadliest antisemitic attack in all 364 years of American Jewish history. Jews all over the world are shaken, upset, and scared. We know that this could have been any of us, but beyond that, this attack struck at the heart of our people. We were attacked in a place of safety and sanctity. We were reminded that as Jews, we are not safe in America. And we lost eleven Jewish souls.

Some of us are grieving, some of us are angry, some of us are devastated, some of us are numb, some of us are crying, some of us are terrified, some of us are anxious, and some of us can barely walk up the stairs because this doesn’t make any sense and yet it makes so much sense because we all, on some level, imagined this was coming. Our history has taught us that our safety is never guaranteed, and over the past two years we have watched the sickening rise of Nazism and antisemitism all over the world, including in America, where, despite our history, many of us had been lulled into believing it could never happen here.

We lost a third of the world’s Jewish population within living memory. So many Jewish families, in every country, fled antisemitic violence within the past few generations. The tragedy we just experienced is visceral, it’s terrifying, it’s devastating.

So please, check in on your Jewish friends and ask how they are doing. Please, take a moment to understand and absorb this tragedy. Please, understand how this is not just yet another mass shooting (that while theoretically tragic, you don’t really have the space for another one, what with compassion fatigue), but rather an attack that pierced the heart of a group of people already carrying centuries of pain and trauma. Please, make space for this one. Please, when you talk about this, don’t use generalized language about hate and about how no one should be killed for their religion. Please speak the words: Jewish. Antisemitic. Say this was an antisemitic attack, on Jewish people. And please, keep us in your thoughts today.

She calls herself a dork but she’s actually cute and adorable. She’s a bit awkward and also a great artist. Any flowers that would work with these qualities? -the dumb closeted anon that forget consent was a thing (2/2)

Hello anon, I’m just going to post the answer onto this half of your reply for efficiencies sake.  It’s a good idea to make any declarations as a separate art piece.  Belladonna can be applied stillness or quiet – and still touch on her horror interests,  Nightshade symbolizes truth – and it has a lovely flower.  Enchanter’s Nightshade is also quite lovely, though its small delicate flowers may not be suitable for a tattoo, it symbolizes sorcery or witchcraft.  To be a bit aspirational with the flowers you could include the Chinese Lantern (not actually of Chinese origin) with symbolizes warmth and unperceived but present strength.

Witch Hazel symbolizes aspiration and self-improvement, Bear Breeches (a name I recently learned for Acanthus) symbolizes art.  Bindweed also symbolizes humility – which has been wrangled around to mean being downtrodden but really embodies a knowledge of oneself in relation to the universe.  There’s also White Mullien for good nature.

If you’d like some straight creepy plants, consider the Bleeding Tooth Mushroom, Venus Fly Trap, Black Bat Flower, or Corpse Flower.
