Why does this post not have more notes?!
Lots of people like me have never seen this post, like me, so I am relishing it for more exposure. That might help…
okay jw but white people aren’t supposed to purchase dream catchers right?
Non-natives can’t make/sell them (it’s illegal and super appropriative) but if they HAVE to have a part of our culture, they can purchase them from ndn artists and it’s not appropriation, it’s appreciation.
If a non-native buys a mass produced or non-native made dreamcatcher it’s SUPER BAD LUCK and insanely appropriative AND it hurts ndn economies.
Boosting this like I’m being paid to. Also, since I want to make sure I’m in the clear. If I, a pasty-pale white person, were to buy something (pretending I have money, for a few minutes) from one of these establishments, this would be cultural appreciation, yes? Not appropriation? Like a pair of moccasins or a necklace?
Yup!
