u know that got me thinking… we as a fandom seem to always go for the high elf style of elven society and sportacus, which is great and all (nd that’s what i mostly do too), but,,

how exactly does the “álfurinn” in íþróttaálfurinn translate? i’ve never known for sure whether it means a specific type of elf, like a high elf, gnome, leprechaun (???) etc. or if it’s a more of a general term that could be interpreted in many ways? cos if icelandic elves are anything like finnish elves, then we’re talking bout gnomes.

and the pictures going around of the latibær book potray the elves in a very gnome-like fashion, too. as in real short, live in the woods, prefer to not be seen by people (?), even wear typically gnomish clothes. that’s pretty much what first gen íþro was like anyways, he’s got The Hat™ and all.

and yeaaah when lazytown was made into a tv show a lot of that was changed to appeal to larger western audiences but i guess what im saying is, how abt all elves even in the lazytown tv canon still are like that. gnomes. and that’s what sportacus is supposed to be like too. he’s just a bit of an oddity among them.

i was at the doctors today and there was a guy sitting behind me with his baby, and the baby starts crying in its pram and the guy just stands up, faces the kid and says “Come on now, don’t cry, you’re better than that”

also, someone else asked him how old his baby was and he said without even a moments hesitation, “he’s 36 he’s just got a height problem” and I’ve only just come to terms with the fact I’ll never say something that funny in my life

It high-key sounds like you stumbled in halfway through a comedy about a dude who’s friend got magicked into a baby

I once mentioned being confused about Wee Doctor’s seasonal timeline, which you kindly clarified. But until fanart came out I had no idea Godfrey or Elsie are characters of color (I assume black and not another ethnic group). In later rereads I only noticed Godfrey being described as having a halo of dark hair, and Hilton’s father briefly mentioned as saying something racist about Elsie. Did I miss other clues? I kinda wish I’d been able to construct accurate mental portraits earlier.

I honestly can’t remember…  It’s been a while and I picture them so clearly in my head that I kind of fill in the gaps.  I tried to mention descriptive and context clues like Elsie’s hair in braids and twists and I think Godfrey made a White People™ joke at least once because that’s the sort of thing he would do.  He’s a jolly sort of person who enjoys a good natured laugh at foolishness.  I don’t know that I came out and said super explicitly that they were but I wasn’t trying to hide it or be tricky about it.  Maybe I should have been really direct about it?  They’re both of African descent.  Godfrey probably has family tradition that he has some Native American ancestry because of African American culture, but that’s more behind the scenes, doesn’t affect the story stuff.  (If he does have any Native American ancestor at all it would probably be Mission Indian, but that’s so far behind the scenes and having nothing to do with anything its standing in the parking lot petting cute dogs.)

LazyFamily Fic requests and prompts?

I’m trying to get a handle on writing Lazytown fic with a family dynamic.  I’m not super comfortable writing romance for this fandom yet, so I’d prefer to just avoid it, if you don’t mind.  I am interested in writing some fic with family dynamics Sportadad in all his variations, Lazydad in all of his, adopted children, biological children, grandparents, the Glaepur-Rotten clan, siblings and any other variation of LazyTown folks in family groups to get some practice in.

If you’re interested in that sort of thing, please send me prompts and fic requests!
